IBM Bowling League: Semi Finals!

NEW UPDATE!

Tonight is the last week of the 1st half in the IBM Bowling League.  At the end of the year, the team that wins the first half will play the team that wins the second half for the championship.  (If it happens to be the same team, they're automatically declared the league champs.)

Our team will be going into tonight tied for 1st place with another team.  We actually had a two game lead on them last week but lost to the same team 1-3. :( Tonight we will play them again because it's the position round week.  If the two teams are still tied after the end of the first half, total pins will be the tiebreaker, which I am happy to say we hold.  Winning the first half is not essential for making the championship game, but it's certainly comforting to get the placement out of the way.

So yep, BIG MATCHUP tonight!  Have to win at least 2 of the 4 points!  Gotta BRING IT and show up with my A game! It's going to be exciting!

12/9 UPDATE: Our opponent had one of their players prebowl last night (prebowling is when you know you cannot make the game at the scheduled date so you bowl your 3 games ahead of time).  In the first game, he bowled a 163 with his 118 average, so we quickly found ourselves down 45 pins. :/ However, one of our bowlers had a monster game, a 247 with his 177 average and we were able to overcome the deficit and take game 1!  We then needed just one more game to secure the first half victory.

The second game was very close.  Our team was down 31 points and I had a strike going into the 10th frame.  To overcome the 31 points, I needed absolutely needed a strike first and then at least 6 pins on the next throw.  I ended up throwing two strikes in the 10th frame and we were able to secure the second game by 15 pins. :)  We were then in the clear, knowing we had won the first half and could relax the rest of the way!  We kept the intensity up for good measure and ended up taking all 4 points (31-17 record for the first half) and yours truly threw a 604 series.  It's a great feeling to have clinched a birth for the championship match!
